Islay (Ile in Gaelic) at the heart of the Celtic world halfway between & connecting Ireland & Scotland on a non-north/south centred map with views from Portnahaven/the Rinns of Islay ranging from the Mull of Kintyre (Scotland) in the east to the Antrim coast (Northern Ireland) to the Inishowen peninsula (Irish Republic) & on a clear day all the way to the Donegal mountains in the west – ancient seat of the Lordship of the Isles – with the local Gaelic spoken being closer to Ulster Gaelic than to Scottish Gaelic
