Itinerary

• Leave the Stirling area
• Drive past the Kelpies (non stop) – Viewing platform of the 3 iconic bridges across the Firth of Forth arr. 9.15 am

Photostop at the 3 Forth bridges viewing platform

• 10 am 3 Forth bridges viewing platform – scenic coastal drive via beaches photostop at Elie & Earlsferry and continuing via the scenic fishing villages of St. Monans – Pittenweem – to Anstruther harbour 11.15 am

Free time to stroll along the largest & most colourful of the historic harbours of the fishing villages of Fife

• 11.45 noon Anstruther harbour – photo-stop at Crail harbour & the golden Kingsbarns beach – mini-city bus tour of St. Andrews (drop off San Salvator college just 300 metres from the town centre) 12.45 pm

Optional walking tour – Cathedral, east beach, harbour, castle, St. Andrews University’s San Salvator college, town, Old golf course & West beach beach and free time/lunch

• 14.30 pm St. Andrews (pick up golf museum/beach WC layby) – photostop in historic Falkland/setting of “the Inverness guesthouse of the Outlander series” – via M91 (Milnathort to Stirling route – optional Falkland (Outlander filming location “Inverness guesthouse” and Loch Leven nature reserve stop – quick Rumbling bridge gorge photostop – which goes past the Ochils hillfoots villages of Dollar (Castle Campbell) – Tillicoultry – Alva & Menstrie) on the route back to the University of Stirling around 5pm

This sample route might very well be reversed depending on the weather and road conditions on the day.

St. Andrews is our main destination with guaranteed free time (it will also be our lunch stop).

We are taking a scenic circular route with stops along the way, outbound to St. Andrews via the coast and returning inland or vice versa.

Due to the short daylight hours we might not have time for all the stops listed here.

Some stops along the way, might just end up being some picturesque photo stops.

To save the students who stay in Stirling town centre, Bridge of Allan, but also at the University of Stirling halls of residence (esp. those staying at Alexander Court) the long early morning trek through possibly icy/wintry conditions or risking for them to miss their bus to the University – Coast, sea Highlands & Islands – Unicorn Tours – offers 5 pick up locations closer to where the students are staying (2 on campus / 1 in town / 1 in Bridge of Allan & on request other pick ups) – pick up times will be between 8.15 am – 8.45 am and will be communicated for each of the 5 pick up locations, once everyone’s pick up preferences are know.

Tour drop off: University of Stirling & Stirling & Bridge of Allan shortly around 5pm, just after dark (sunset will be around 4.30 pm)

You can choose the pick up/drop off point closest to your accommodation:

At the time of the booking, we ask you which of these 5 pick up locations suits you best, 2-3 days before departure, we send your final joining instructions, incl. the latest weather forecast and reconfirm your pick up location and time.

Pick up & drop off locations:

– University of Stirling halls of residencies (they are all very close to each other) but the carpark at Juniper Court opposite the Airthrey Park medical centre is pretty central for all the other various halls of residences on Campus

– University of Stirling halls of residencies – Alexander Court carpark (which is within the University grounds, but the furthest distance away)

– Stirling town centre pick up – the most central location also close to most town centre residencies, such as John Forty’s Court, is Tesco supermarket carpark in Stirling

– Bridge of Allan pick up – Co-op carpark which is very central and also close to the Lyon Crescent student accommodation
